KIMBERLY BREILAND
Founder + Creative Director
After graduating from Pratt Institute, I was hired by Bill Gold Advertising and began my career immersed in the Entertainment World. Bill Gold Advertising was responsible for many iconic movie posters, My Fair Lady, Casablanca, The Exorcist, Bonnie and Clyde, Clockwork Orange, and the like. Bill took me under his wing and became one of the most important mentors in my career, as well as in life.
My first movie poster was Unforgiven, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. In The Line of Fire, A Perfect World, Space Cowboys, The Bridges of Madison County, and many, many more, followed. Along with the movie posters, known in the trade as “One Sheets” or “Key Art”, I designed billboards, bus shelters, trade ads, and news ads for each movie being produced at the time.
While all of this was happening, I founded 22 Graphics, Inc. Early on, we mainly focused on the Entertainment World, collaborating with studios such as Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, New Line Television, Time Warner, New Yorker Video, and Miramax Films. Soon we expanded our reach into various other industries, including Skincare, Retail, Political Parties, Realestate Developers, Private and Public Sectors, and Not-for-profits.
Many people say that I have an “old soul” with a “new spirit”. Don’t ask me what that means, but I can say that I enjoy blending old with new. I have a love for history and etymology and a passion for innovation and new ideas, and I like design that is straightforward. I am a sap and often can be found crying in movies as well as commercials, and I have a very strong habit of correcting tilted artwork hanging on walls, as well as reorganizing the dishwasher.
CHAYE ZUCKERMAN SHAPOT
Executive Director Sales + Marketing
I left large firm law, where I litigated corporate and securities cases, and eventually found a home selling promotional products, affectionately known as “swag” or “merch”. This career is much less contentious and far more creative, and I have been doing it for 17 years, the last 10 with 22 Graphics. My clients run the gamut from public schools to corporations, non-profits to governmental agencies, event planners to individuals. I relish the hunt for the ideal item at the perfect price to satisfy even the choosiest customer. Repeat business and referrals tell me I have done the best job possible, which satisfies my inherently competitive nature. When not working, I travel in the US and abroad, hike, ski, play pickleball and golf, attend theater and dance performances, solve crosswords and other word games, and read voraciously. I am oddly obsessed with coordinating my workout gear, from socks to sweatbands, and I love the color orange.
NATHAN SNYDER
Creative Director
I earned my BFA focusing on graphic design with special attention to print design and printmaking. After studying silkscreen, intaglio, lithography, letterpress, bookmaking, and even taking a hands-on offset printing class, I found myself unexpectedly thrust into the role of de facto web designer at my very first real career job—all because I had taken a single class in web design. The web was still fairly new back then, and the .com bubble had yet to inflate, let alone burst, so knowing how to put up a web page was a valuable skill to possess. Since websites were small and straightforward at the time, tinkering with a company’s website didn’t detract significantly from the print projects I juggled.
I am still fortunate enough to be able to work on both print and web campaigns every year, but I have found myself becoming more and more involved in web development due to the amount of specialization required and the need for such a role wherever I found myself. For quite some time now, that setting has been at 22 Graphics. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kimberly throughout my entire professional journey, over the span of three different jobs, and I’m delighted to have collaborated with her for the past twenty years. My, how time flies!
In addition to keeping up with the latest web trends, I enjoy as many date nights with my wife as possible, soaking up all the fine cuisine NY has to offer, concerts, plays, and museums, as well as quick getaways involving hiking, long walks and nature. If I’m just entertaining myself, I will probably be reading, watching, or listening to something deeply weird and mind-bending or campy and ridiculous.
